Longtime NFL assistant coach Bill Muir followed through on his plans to retire, informing the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday that he wouldn’t return for a 35th season in the league. Muir joined the Chiefs in 2009 as offensive line coach under Todd Haley, and was elevated to offensive coordinator last season.

Head coach Romeo Crennel of the Kansas City Chiefs will have a new look on his coaching staff in 2012. The team’s official website announced Jan. 30 that Tom McMahon will serve as the special teams coach of the Chiefs next season.
