The Carolina Hurricanes' unexpected winning streak came to an end at Florida on Saturday night. Michael Frolik and Kamil Kreps scored in a 1:11 span of the first period, Tomas Vokoun made 31 saves and the Florida Panthers beat Carolina 4-1 to snap the Hurricanes' winning streak at seven games.

The Carolina Hurricanes traded five veteran players and stockpiled draft picks in a flurry of deals before the NHL deadline. General manager Jim Rutherford says the Hurricanes dealt defenseman Joe Corvo to the Washington Capitals, forwards Stephane Yelle and prospect Harrison Reed to the Colorado Avalanche and defenseman Andrew Alberts to the Vancouver Canucks.

The Carolina Hurricanes traded a pair of veteran players and stockpiled draft picks in separate deals before the NHL deadline. The Hurricanes sent defenseman Aaron Ward to the Anaheim Ducks for a minor league goalie and a draft choice, then traded forward Scott Walker to the Washington Capitals for another pick.
